Every story has two sides; until recently the constant debate between VoIP service and landlines had been indecisive. Even though home phone users and fundamentalists claimed that internet telephones are flawed; yet it has continued to grow and make a name for itself.
VoIP service with the help of few gadgets transforms voice into digital signals and transmits it over the internet for communication. Previously this type of communication was available between two computers enabled by the help of various software programs like Skype etc. but VoIP services have taken this concept one step further by allowing this mechanism to work on simple ordinary phones. In process many companies have come up with a communication service that is parallel to that of home phone services. By this article I intend to present the counter argument of VoIP services and show how they make themselves worthy of replacing the age old landlines that have been part of our society for many decades. Advantages of VoIP services are as following.
- Saving of money: the basic idea upon which VoIP service is based is providing cheap telecommunication alternative. So in all a user not just saves money in respect of bill and cheap calls but he also saves money on over head charges like line rent and hardware cost and other taxes.
- Business VOIP services: previously businesses had to suffer due to lack of proper calling plans. Telecommunication companies used to provide them with the same calling plans as others. But VoIP services have given business calling plans a new meaning, every company gives away a calling plan that is designed specifically keeping in mind the demands of developing corporate sector.
- Reshaping work environment: VoIP services have not only affected our lives economically but also it has changed we used to work. Now a person can even work from his phone because an internet phone gives away mobility like no other. One can enjoy communication from any where and every where provided he stays connected to the internet. It enables ease of maintenance and provides opportunity to be more mobile, productive and efficient.
- Variety of medium: by variety of medium I mean the opportunity for users to choose any kind of communication device he might desire. VoIP service do not force in using same kind of hardware for communication. It also provides with the choice to use your laptop or normal house hold computer as a phone.
- Added features: an aspect that has taken a VoIP service ahead of telephones and even mobile phones is the availability of countless added features available for user to use and get benefit from. Voice mail, speed dialing, dialer tones, call blocking all are part of every package offered by major VoIP service.
- Constant service: not trying to over sell or something like that VOIP phones give utmost stability of service to the user, he could either surf the net, download data, watch movies his service would remain constant and interference free.
